We require information regarding our passport which expires on 18 November 2007, we are travelling to Spain on 13 October 2007 for 1 week. My 15 year old daughter is traveling on my passport we need to confirm the passport is valid I have been told my passport is not valid by the post office they say i need 6months remaining can you please confirm with the correct answer.
    Thank you for your time

Linda, I’m assuming you have a British passport. Here’s what the Home Office say about passport validity.

‘Some overseas countries have an immigration requirement for a passport to remain valid for a minimum period after entry to that country.
Holding a British passport does not exempt the holder from complying with these requirements. If your passport is in its final year of validity, you are advised to check the requirements of your destination country before you make your final travel plans. Any questions should be addressed to their consulate or embassy.’

With only two months left on your passport I’d call the Spanish Consulate (above on 0207 589 8989 ) and ask.

I would say that shouldn’t be a problem as its another EU country, although as a rule they say have at least six months on your passport when travlling abroad.

    Dear Sirs,

I was enquiring into the fact that my wife is a Spanish passport holder, residing in the UK. However she wishes to renew her existing passport. Can she still use her married name or is she obliged to carry on using her maiden name.

    Kind regards,

    J. Thakral

we are planning to take our UK registered car to leave at our house in Spain, for holiday use.

As UK residents please advise necessary procedure.
