alien.jpgThey say in South London no one can hear you scream, there’s a chance to put that to the test this week when the BFI IMAX cinema in Waterloo holds an Alien All Nighter, featuring all four films in the Alien sci-fi series back to back.

Its on 2 June starting at 9pm and features 70mm versions of Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and a 35mm version of Alien Ressurection. I thought the first two were absolute classics, that still look great today and pack a suspenseful punch. I didn’t like Alien 3 and never saw Alien Ressurection but as a package at the IMAX and one after the other its not a bad deal for £25.

The IMAX is easy to get to, its the big circular glass fronted building just over the southern end of Waterloo Bridge, on a big traffic island across from Waterloo Station.

1 & 2 were great. #3 was shit, don’t know about #4.

Anyway the deal with #1 was it was a sci-fi flick trying to be a horror flick. #2 was a Vietnam flick, pretending to look like a horror flick trying to look like a sci-fi flick.

They both work, but #3 fell flat due to weak plot, cast, charachter development and acting.
