I am not commenting on the Brazilian Embassy ,..but wish to register my objections to the increasing difficulties facing representatives, including foreign jounalists,of organisations acting on behalf of Indigenous peoples in Brazil.I am referring specifically to the recent threats to a group of people acting on behalf of the Enawene Nawe in the north of Matto Grosso, who were obstructed from access to the aforementioned’s territory, threatened and abused. This is no way to treat law abiding citizens, Brazilian or foreigners, and the relevant parties (local mayor, other politicians and ‘farmers’} must be prosecuted immediately. Please could you forward this to The relevant section of the Consulate, as necessary. Thankyou. yours sincerely Robin Neville

HAVING BEEN TO THE AMAZON
THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE SOME OF THE RAIN FOREST
IS TO PASS A LAW REQURING NOT ONLY THE NEW FARMS BUT ALSO THE EXISTING ONE TO HAVE THEIR LAND TO
HAVE FOREST COVERING 33% OF THEIR TOTAL LAND OWNED.

I would like to know why the government of a predominantly Catholic country does not do more to protect the shrine to the true God that the rainforest is. You are a privileged people to host such a tribute to a loving creator. Perhaps His Holiness should declare the Amazon rainforest a Holy place thereby committing those who harm it to the eternal fires of Hell. Appropriate, don’t you think?
