British Pound rising against US Dollar

pound.jpgNot good news if you’re planning a trip to the UK from the US, the British Pound has just hit a 26 year high against the US dollar, trading at $2.06 to £1 and getting close to the $2.07 mark. Scarily for US travellers coming here financial analysts say if the UK and US economies continue on their present courses, reaching the levels of 1980 when the Pound was valued at a high of $2.44 are possible. All good if you’re travelling in the other direction of course but let’s hope things pick up for London visitors.

Here are some of the other main currencies and their exchange rate against the Pound.
£1 = 1.43 Euro
£1 = 2.25 Australian Dollar
£1 = 2.70 New Zealand Dollar
£1 = 1.97 Canadian Dollar
£1 = 237.42 Japanese Yen
£1 = 13.51 South African Rand
£1 = 2.40 Swiss Franc
£1 = 2.99 Singapore Dollar
