Couldn’t happen to a nice bunch

Turmoil at Manchester United, got to love it. The fans have been boiling over and spitting venom at their new American owner, who’s never been to a game there and probably never will without protection from the Secret Service.
The team got beat 3-1 at home by Chelsea in mid-week and did a lap of honour as it was their last home game of the season in front of empty stands, the fans couldn’t get out of Old Trafford quick enough.

Meanwhile back at Highbury, Arsenal were crushing Everton 7-0 in a little tune up for next saturday’s FA Cup Final against Man Utd. A perfect chance to kick’em when they’re down.

Yeah - not sure what it matters to the fans…kinda of a funny thing to whine about. If the guy has the cash and wants to buy the shares - it’s gonna be almost impossible to stop him. Hope to see Arsenal kick the shit out of them. Hope all is well with you buddy.

I am getting a kick out of hearing the nonsense the Man U fans are coming out with (we’re going to form a breakaway club, we’re are taking all the fans with us etc.) . Pure emotion. Pure nonsense. Do these guys ever think before they open their mouths?

Man U is a publicly traded company and had just been bought, pure and simple. I give Malcolm Glazer a lot more credit than the MU fans. Sure he’s all about money, but he’s not going to sabotage a profitable business. He will not try to renegotiate the Premiership tv deal as he knows its unlikely he will get 14 out of 20 clubs supporting him. He will aggressively market MU in the US and Asia and try to get the pay per view / season going. Imagine 1 million fans around the world each paying $100 to see all the games live. That’s a lot of cash and with the brand recognition MU already has Glazer has a chance. Forget about selling t-shirt at the local shop, that’s chump change compared to what’s possible through an overseas subscription model.

When Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea it was the key moment they were transformed from a big team to a super team. It might be the case that Glazer’s aquisition of MU is the defining moment that propels them from super team to Mega team.
