Had a good day today when I went with friends Anil and Nadim to watch a match at Lord’s, the home cricket.
It was the tsunami relief game between two allstar teams, MCC v International XI, featuring some of the best known players in the world.
Lord’s is a great place to watch a game, not as big as it looks on tv, good views from just about everywhere and easy access from the seats to the concession areas, although this is where they make their money, £3 for a Fosters, £8 fish and chips. Taking a cool box of beers is a good idea.
The variety of players on show attracted a very mixed crowd with a lot of Indian, Pakistan and Sri lankan fans and its a shame Lords doesn’t allow them to bring their drums and instruments into the ground, because I’ve seen a similar game at the Oval and they can certainly make a racket and good atmosphere.
A good day out and it raised money for a worthy cause.
