How to spoil a good day out

Cricket authorities are banning fans from bringing booze into Test match grounds. Well done, how take a lot of fun out of the day for fans that are in the ground from 10am to 7pm.

The last time I went to a game at the Oval I took a cooler full of cold beer and drinks, which lasted the day just right and nobody got agressive or out of line.

The England v West Indies Test at Lords last week was criticised for lack of atmosphere compared to when the West Indies fans were allowed to bring instruments in.
It seems to me that the people who run cricket would be quite happy if fans come in, sit on their hands and just occasionally applaud politely, don’t do anything to make it a special day.

Particularly since the team are starting to play well for a change. The administrators should be striking while the iron is hot and get more crowds down to the grounds.

You’re not allowed to bring your own beer into the cricket in Oz either, and they gouge you at the bar inside the ground.

A cricket journo on the radio today said it was the Asian countries in the ICC who were really pushing this, what its got to do with them I don’t know.
