The Ashes

How good was the cricket yesterday. England v Australia, down to the last ball of the fifth day of the Third Test, England needing to take the last Aussie wicket to win but just couldn’t do it.
Fantastic game especially after the incredible end to the Second Test the previous sunday when it came down to Australia needing two runs to win and England needing one more wicket, England got it.

Even people who don’t like the game are getting excited by this Ashes series, 20,000 people were locked out of Old Trafford yesterday when admission was first come, first served.
The Premiership football season started over the weekend and no ones talking about it.

I actually think there’s so much football people are going to get turned off.
The Premiership finished in May, the Champions League in the last week of May. Four weeks later the winners Liverpool are back playing qualifiers, the Confederations Cup is on, the England summer tour, Intertoto Cup games, pre season games, all on tv.
Now with the World Cup next summer they’ll be eleven months solid football.

There’s no break to get the excitement really built up again.
I think one of the reasons people are so into cricket for these few weeks is because its not football.

I agree. Also I think people are blown away how England can actually give the best team in the world a game. England have been on the receiving end of everybody for decades, to actually be able to play must make fans jubilant.

I am surprised to hear England doing that well against the Aussies…last I saw/heard, they sucked…Tufnell running around like a headless chook trying to stop 4’s and getting his crap hammered when he bowled - of course, that was a few years ago now. - How do you like these new comments?
