Don’t mix it up

A university professor and FIFA coach is calling for equal opportunities laws to be used to overturn football’s ban on women playing in men’s professional leagues. She’s got to be dreaming.
The games already going soft, players aren’t allowed to make a tackle without a freekick being awarded, so adding a few women to the mix would make it about as much a contact sport as tennis.

Besides, a good looking chick lining up alongside a Shrek impersonator like Wayne Rooney just wouldn’t be right.

I am not against it and think if a woman has the speed, strength and skill it takes to play in the Premiership, then she should be allowed to market her services. Whether or not Man U. will pay her $10m ayear is another matter.

In the US I have seen women playing high school football (gridiron) in the men’s team. No worries if they don’t mind taking a beating.

You have to ask yourself, how would Mia Hamm, the World’s best female player do in Serie A or the Premiership. The answer would decide whether even even got picked up by a team. Most women would not get picked up.

Equal opportunity is fine with me, as long as its is performance based and politically based.
