Football really is turning into a game for pussies.
At least that’s what the Football Association is driving for if their reaction to the Man.Utd-Arsenal game is anything to go by.
Today they’ve charged six Arsenal players and two from Man.Utd with various things, the most common being ‘violent behaviour’.
Violent, was anybody punched, anybody kicked, anybody injured? A big fat no on all counts.
A bit of pushing, some verbals, absolute handbags at twenty paces stuff, you’ll see worse at a tennis match or in the checkout line at your local supermarket.
Patrick Vieira was sent off for ‘not’ kicking van Nistelrooy because the intent was there. I hope the next time I’m walking through town I don’t get arrested for not robbing the bank because the intent was there.
The faceless suits at the FA will be as pleased as punch with themselves when they hand out bans to these players, totally messing up Arsenal’s championship hopes.
If that game hadn’t been the main SkySports game on Sunday afternoon this wouldn’t be the big fuss all the press is making it out to be.
And I’m getting sick of watching games where two players challenge for the ball and with the slightest bit of contact the referees give free-kicks. This is not supposed to be 11 man Netball, nor the completely sanitized, emotionless game the FA is driving for.

With penalties like this for almost nothing - I could not agree more. It’s entertainment for fuck’s sake - let’s let these guys get at it a bit.
