I stopped by today to see my team Arsenal’s grand old Highbury stadium, which was their home from 1913 to May 2006. I first went to games at Highbury in the 1970’s and have good memories of the place, which is probably a good thing because the wrecking ball has been getting busy down there.

Above, what’s left of the North Bank, soon to be turned into apartments.

The East Stand main entrance gets a makeover.

The Clock End’s gone already. The roof of the Emirates Stadium is visible beyond the cranes.

The pitch is a playground for JCB’s.

The brillant new Emirates Stadium has taken over from Highbury, its a great place to watch a game but doesn’t have the aura of the old Highbury yet.

What have they done with Highbury
