Free Posters from London Underground

Between 26-30 November London Undergound is giving away 125,000 limited edition, specially commissioned posters designed by leading contemporary artists to celebrate the start of Art on the Underground. They’ll be handed out during morning and evening rush hour at King’s Cross, Victoria, Waterloo, Paddington and Liverpool Street Stations. 25,000 of each poster have been produced and a different one will be available each day.

The five artists and their posters given away are Turner Prize nominee Mark Titchner who has created one of his trademark bold signage works with the imperious ‘If you don’t like your life you can change it!’ emblazoned on it, Layla Curtis who has produced an intricately drawn A-Z map which is, on closer inspection, completely fictitious, James Ireland has created exquisite collages of dramatic snow-covered mountain peaks composited of various mountain ranges, bathed in invented sunset and sunrise light, Katy Dove has painted a delicate, pastel-hued watercolour with a strong graphic element, and Klega has drawn intense ink illustrations which poke fun at human behaviour.

So kids, reach for your wallet to buy your airfare to London to come and pick up some free posters from the good folks at London Underground, as long as they’re not currently on strike.
