A survivor
I heard a radio interview today with Aron Ralston, the American climber who had to amputate his own arm last year after it got trapped by a rock when he was climbing in Utah.
He was publicising his book on the events he went through and comes across as a really clear headed, intelligent and postive thinking guy, who when faced with a major problem didn’t panic but worked through all his options and did what he had to do to survive.
Looking forward to reading his book.

He’s got guts and strength for sure. I read a story in Reader’s Digest a few years ago where this guy was climbing and got hit by an avalanch while he and his buddy were climbing with ropes. He had to climb down and take the backpack of of his dead friend and cut him loose as he needed he rope.
It took him 4 agonizing days to get to a town and he found out he had a broken ankle, dislocated shoulder and a broken neck. Amazing story.
Nick, that story made it into a movie, Touching the Void. Fantastic and a real inspiration.
Looking forward to Aron Ralston’s book also.
Can’t wait to see Touching the Void on dvd, the movie of Joe Simpson’s story got great reviews when it came out.
