‘What was I thinking ‘ must be going through Condoleezza Rice’s mind after she excepted British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw’s invitation to spend some time in his home town of Blackburn.

‘Centre of the universe’ was how Mr Straw described Blackburn to her. Northern humour there Condi, centre of the universe’s arsehole would be closer to the truth.

The local muslim yahoo’s were out making a noise and I saw one being interviewed on the news saying Rice should be taken to Iraq, tried and executed.

At least she saw the funny side. When he took her to Ewood Park, home of Premiership bruiser’s Blackburn Rovers, she said ‘this must be the centre of the centre of the universe.’
Condoleezza now probably has a much better understanding of the old British saying ‘it’s grim up north’.
