Could you do it?

Here's another one of those remarkable survival stories that come up every so often.
The guy must be a strong character to have stayed focused enough after five days, and running out of food and water.

This is unreal. How could you not pass out from either the pain, or the loss of blood, or both? And then to rappel 60 feet? This guy makes Monty Python’s Black Knight look like a sissy!

It is amazing and there are cool headed people capable of this kind of thing. I’ve heard a similar story about a medical student who was trapped under a car one time and very precisely severed his own arm.

I read an amazing story of a guy in Alaska who while rock climbing with a buddy was hit with an avalanche. His buddy was killed and it took him 4 days of climbing with one arm ( the other shoulder was smashed, his ankle broken ) and camping in his tent in icy conditions, down a glacier to walk into a town. Upon arriving they found he had a broken neck.

Well, at least there wasn’t anything seriously wrong with him then.
