Doing the right thing

It’s nice to see the government doing something that they should have done years ago and have been fighting against but have finally agreed to, namely giving residency and citizenship rights to the Nepalese Gurkhas who fight for the British army.

These guys from Nepal have been volunteering to sign up for the last couple of hundred years for a fraction of the pay and pension benefits regular British soldiers get, but always seem to be one of the first units thrown into the thick end of the action when the UK decides to get involved somewhere in the world.

If we’re asking people to get out there and die for us the least we can do is treat them like we treat our own.

People have been campaigning on this for years, I guess the government got fed up being embarassed by it.
