From bad to worse

Donald Rumsfeld and his top brass looked uneasy answering questions from the Senate today, in fact one of the generals next to him looked like a rabbit trapped in the headlights when asked who had been in charge of the interrogations.
I doubt if apologising now will help their situation, especially if the videotape Rumsfeld said exists gets shown. The woman who writes the Baghdad Burning blog has been pretty scathing and if that’s the common Iraqi view , consider the propaganda war lost.

I think the propaganda war was lost a long time ago, maybe around the time they started using F15’s to shoot missiles at mosque minarets.

You can be sure Bush and Rumsfeld will make sure those soldiers responsible for the photos are prosecuted to the full extent after making life more difficult for them.

Why are poeple so shocked at this latest brutality? Put people in a position of power and you’ll get abuse, physical or otherwise.

Although not surprised, I am sad - sad that this continues throughout history, sad some Americans disregarded the damage this would do to our already fragile reputation.

Hopefully, there will be those who do not judge the average American citizen by the policies this government follows.

I too was not surprised that this happend…when you have 100,000+ soldiers, many of them 19-21 years old and bored, a few will get up to no good. That does not excuse them of course.

Saw on telly the other nite, a professor from Baghdad University and his reaction to all this. He said, under Saddam, it would all get swept under the rug and anyone who said different would have trouble…the professor was happy to see Bush and Rumsfield apologize and take the blame and actions.

….just another point of view…not necessarily mine. :)
