Hanging out with Jen

I met up with Jen Leo yesterday, just to make sure she’s not completely slacking off work down in Hampstead. In fact she’s got use of a very nice basement office where she can work away undisturbed and keep her fingers in as many pies as possible.

In between pints at a couple pubs we checked the movie 21 Grams at the independent Everyman cinema. A fairly unique movie theatre, with an upstairs gallery that has cushioned leather seats, where you can watch the movie with a chilled bottle of wine rather than a large diet coke.
Tickets were £15 per person, it bit more than the local multiplex, but the gallery only seats 24 and for a relaxed film experience is probably worth it.

Shame about 21 Grams which I thought was all over the place, jumping backwards and forwards in its timeline. Sean Penn won an Oscar for his role but I can’t see why. One to leave for the dvd rental.

This morning Jen and me went for a walk on a very muddy and windy Hampstead Heath, close to where she’s staying.

Quite a lot of dog walkers and joggers on the heath and even one or two people brave enough to try a dip in one of the ponds.
Jen was keen to give it a go but local rules made this impossible.

although I really loved 21 grams Penn did not win the oscar for that. He won it for acting in Mystic River which I personally considered quiet boring….

The weather looks like absolute shite there. :-) Sorry - we have been having sun and balmy the past 2 weeks or so (Portland, OR). Glad to hear you 2 hanging out for a laugh to pass the dreary days.

The weather was gorgeous the day he came over, Saturday. But I was too starved to go enjoy it then and we went straight for a pub. It rained overnight, and was back to cold the next morning. The days hardly seem dreary, but a rollercoaster of sun, rain, and snow–for sure.

Chris is fun, and hanging out with him is a great way to get me out of the basement. And now I feel fine to walk in the Heath alone.

Cheers for that Paolo, I’ll take your recommendation and watch Mystic River when it gets to Blockbuster.

Sean, I keep telling her she could be in San Diego but she’s not interested.

What did you find boring about Mystic River, Paolo?

Jen, I love your smile. It’s your signature.

And how about Everyman? Great concept. Especially like the idea of discussing the movie afterwards.

Thanks, Mary. Chris didn’t even put up the one with the head tilt. Then it would have been the full signature. :-)
