Hurricane Katrina
The news here right now is wall to wall Hurricane Katrina aftermath, and the general take is people just cannot believe the U.S., which everyone imagines would handle this better than any country, seems so slow to get help and supplies to where they’re needed.
Looking at some of the stuff from New Orleans you think you’re seeing a disaster happening in Africa or Asia not the world’s superpower.
When the European Union and Japan start offering America aid it somehow seems ridiculous even if its needed.
I’m sure George Bush is relieved he doesn’t have another election to win because he is getting slaughtered over the lack of a rapid response, whether he deserves it or not.

Bush is scrambling for political cover right now. America has been shamed by thsi episode and African Americans particularly are extremely angry.
I expect to hear plenty of \’red, white and blue\’ from Bush in the next 6 months talking about unity and togetherness etc. The thing with this guy is its all contrived, actually written by someone else, with not an ounce of sincerity from the man himself. Most people reliaze this, but its all measured, political positioning.
In total contrast to that is the mayor of New Orleans, who while not measured or structured, is passionate and people immediately will relate to his situation.
Here\’s his radio interview.
