Iceland has decided to resume whaling for ’scientific purposes’.
Apparently the shortage of fish in the north Atlantic is because there are too many greedy whales and has nothing to do with over fishing by countries like Iceland, Spain etc.
Japan also uses the ’scientific’ excuse to carry on hunting whales. What amazing results are they expecting, ‘guess what , whales eat fish’.
I thought nature was pretty good at regulating populations depending on the food supply available.
The factory ships come in and clean the oceans out and the likes of Iceland, Norway and Japan look at what’s left to make a buck off, how about whale meat.
That’s commerce not science.

Iceland has one of the best fishing control systems in the world and there hasnīt been any collapses in our fishstocks like in many other contries.
The sea is the most importan resource weīve got and we realise we have to control it wisely. Thatīs one of the reasons we want to know what the mink whale is eating. There are about 42.000 inside our juridiction.
Totally agree. I’m wondering how the fisheries industry is going to market plankton when its the only thing left in the ocean.
