‘Oh Baby’

‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed is making a boxing comeback. Probably the cockiest, flashiest boxer Britain’s produced, he hasn’t had a fight in three and half years and only one since Marco Antonio Barrera knocked the cockiness out of him in Las vegas in 2001.

Hamed used to be known for his entrance’s, jiving and strutting to the ring, head popping all over the place and handspringing over the top rope into the ring. Last time I saw him fight he did all that up until he had his hands on the top rope.
Everyone was waiting for him to vault over but after psyching himself up for 30 seconds he couldn’t do it and ducked under the rope, you knew then the confidence and brashness had gone.
He won that fight on points but there hasn’t been a peep out of him since. Guess the money must be running out and its time to go to work again.

He’s 31 now and could pick up one of the alphabet of world titles out there, but will never be the genius fighter people thought he’d be ten years ago.
