Pictures from the Lord Mayor’s Show

lm1.jpg The Lord Mayor’s Show is one of the biggest annual parades in London, part military show, part carnival. Above, the new Lord Mayor leans out of his gold coach as it approachs the rear of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Some of Genghis Khan’s descendant’s joined the parade at Mansion House.

lm4.jpg Pipe bands where among the military ones going through some tunes.

A lot of kids and younger people were in the show and they needed good energy levels because the march there and back took over four hours.

Lots of horse drawn carriages with mounted escorts came through….
lm10.jpg ….along with a collection of vintage Rolls Royces, sports cars, the Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

And a fair bit of military hardware including this vinatge WW2 tank.
lm9.jpg And the Lord Mayor’s Show always gives the army a chance to polish up their medals and put on their Sunday best.

If you like a parade with a lot of ceremonial, checkout the State Opening of Parliament tomorrow, November 15, along the Mall aand Whitehall.
