Pound v Dollar

badge.jpgIts not great news if you’re planning to visit Britain from the US this summer, the British pound is set to break through the $2 barrier this week. That would be the first time the pound has reached that level since 1992 and while its great for British people heading to the US, it could make holidaying in the UK even more expensive and believe me, up is the only way prices here are heading right now.

Its hard to see much relief for visitors because despite the cost involved of spending time in London, the number of people coming keeps increasing and its a sellers market for hotels, restaurants and entertainment. The best thing to do is try to plan ahead what you want to see and do when you get to London and maybe pack more into a shorter visit.

Ugh - 1992 was the year I did my study abroad in the UK, and the pricetags on everything were just jaw-dropping. I shudder to think it’s going to be higher than that now…
