The war news is really starting to dominate everything, especially now that the US/British forces are taking more casualties. At work today the radio was cutting back and forth to reporters in Baghdad after two parachutes were seen coming down near the Tigris River and Iraqi soldiers and civilians crowded along the bank, shooting wildly into the undergrowth. Haven’t heard yet whether any pilots were captured.
More shocking was the sight of the bodies of four US soldiers apparently shot through the head at close range and five others paraded by the Iraqis on TV.
Britain has suffered a number of casualties so far but all of these seem to have been the result of friendly fire or accidents.
The anti-war demonstration in London yesterday was way down on the numbers who showed up a month ago. Now it’s down to the hard core who have separate agendas apart from stopping the war.
Other things happened today, Australia won the Cricket World Cup, Arsenal went back to the top of the Premiership but I only showed a passing interest. The war’s the most compelling thing right now. Anybody care who wins the Oscars?
