Supporting the boys

Interesting here how the opinion polls have swung back in favour of participation in the war since it began, inspite of the number of allied and civilian casualties.

The big demonstrations before the war suggested that they would carry on after the fighting started but that hasn’t happened.
That must be a boost for Tony Blair but a quick end doesn’t look likely now, the Iraqis don’t seem too keen on being liberated, and he and George Bush could be looking for an exit if the war lasts more than a month or two.

Working in the travel industry I would prefer a short war with few casualties so travel can get back on track. The only good thing about a longer war in my opinion is that it is a wake up call to those who think war is a video game and will make future excursions into foreign lands less likely to be rubber stamped.

In the west we have become dumbed down a bit with memories of the Gulf War and how easy it was ( the 100 hour war etc. ). The realities are unpleasant. I’m not saying we don’t confront terrorism, just that there’s a real price to pay.
