The final party

England’s rugby team had their celebratory game against the New Zealand Barbarians tonight and had a good 42-17 win, but you definitely feel this should be the last of the World Cup celebrations.
After receptions with the Queen and the Prime Minister, parades through London, awards ceremonies etc, you get the impression the players are ready to draw a line under it as well.

The game itself was pretty entertaining. England only fielded four players who won the World Cup and both teams ran everything, Jonny Wilkinson’s boot wasn’t needed in this game.
The NZ Barbarians made a go of it even though they only trained together for a week.

The strangest aspect of the match was the singing of the national anthem. If you closed your eyes, you would have said a 300lb woman of about 45 was singing God Save The Queen. If you opened them you would have seen a boy of about eleven.

A nice pre-Christmas outing if you’re an Engalnd rugby fan, complete with streaker.
