Too old to be a contender

It seems a pity that former Heavyweight Champ Evander Holyfield is turning into one of those boxers who just doesn’t know when to stop taking fights and has no one in his camp to make him retire.

At least the authorities are trying to put the block on him in the US and considering he’s 42 years old and has won only two of his last nine fights its about time.

Holyfield says he won’t quit and no doubt some overseas promoters will fix up a match but all that will do is mess up his record even more and probably his health. Its amazing how some of these boxers egos just won’t let them call it a day when they should.

I read a thing on him where an expert said he can’t let go of his ‘athletic indentity’. Basically he sees himself as a 22 year old stud and not a 42 year old ‘has been’.

He has surrounded himself with ‘yes men’ who tell him ‘go for it champ, you can still win’.

There are plenty of young studs waiting to knock his brains through his ears and I hope he comes to his senses before its too late.
