What's French for spam?

The French government is banning the word email and replacing it with one of its own, courriel.

It seems like these guys are always pissing into the wind, trying to stop the natural evolution of language or culture. Isn’t it the great thing about English, that it takes words from everywhere or makes up new ones and people just get on with it.

I remember a few years back the French were trying to get the European Union to pass a law saying 60% of tv programmes shown in Europe must be European made. The reason everybody watches American shows is because the homemade stuff is shite, simple.

You can’t stop change no matter what laws you pass, if people like something they’ll use it.

Well said Chris. I feel like having a drink for that one. Maybe it comes back to that saying…

“People will do and say whatever they fuck they want to”

I agree, Chris. Trying to stop the flow is counter-productive and a waste of energy. Go with the flow, adapt to this changing world and open the window to the fresh breeze coming in.

Having said that, I love the French language. And the French love it even more.

French is a great language and a few foreign words won’t wipe it out.
