When ‘come on chaps’ won’t do

Tv companies are always trying new angles to cover sport, more cameras, more access to teams and the action.
There was a funny example on ITV(one of the British networks) this afternoon.

They were showing the 152nd University Boat Race between Cambridge and Oxford on the Thames in London. The race is shown live every year and started about 4.30pm.

ITV had two cameras on each boat, one behind the cox looking at the crew and one at his feet giving a closeup of the cox and they were wired for sound.

About halfway through the race at a crucial point they went for a cox closeup just as he bellowed ‘LET’S HAVE A BIG FUCKING PUSH FOR THIS BEND’.
Cut to a longshot and the commentator saying ‘ the Oxford cox exhorting his men for a big effort’.

Wonder if they’ll leave the mics in the boat next year. Oxford won by the way.
