Who needs Air Jordan

I watched a segment on a sports show yesterday about Slamball, an extreme basketball hybrid.
Its played on a court with four small trampolines set into the floor at each end of the court, has ice hockey style perspex boards and the middle of the court is set on springs like a wrestling ring.

A game has two, four man teams, and where basketball has three points for a basket from beyond the three point line, here its three for slamming which players do in spectacular fashion, bouncing off the trampolines doing somersaults before dunking.

Physical contact is encouraged, body checking into the boards, taking guys out as they are about to land a basket, and not surprisingly the players are ex American football players as well as basketball ones.

It was described as a human video game and that seems to be what the organisers are aiming for. I doubt it will be more than a novelty for anyone who isn’t into gaming or stuff like WWE wrestling although the people behind it think its the next big thing.

If you’re not big enough to play basketball, not tough enough for hockey and not athletic enough for gymnastics this could be something for you. I’m sure the ‘X Games’ will hype the shit out it.
