The David Blunkett story gets funnier every day. The man with the third most important job in Britain, the Home Secretary who controls national security, the police, the law, immigration etc, still finds plenty of time to have get it on with a married woman and claim to be the father of her kids and today it turns out he was also banging the girlfriend of one of his officials.

Despite his mistress’s Filipino nanny getting permanent residence 19 days after applying for it, which MP’s both Labour and Conservative have said on tv is unheard of, Tony Blair and the rest of the cabinet have all been out saying what an outstanding and responsible guy he is, responsible enough to have unprotected sex with another man’s wife as someone put this week.

If he’d been a Conservative Home Secretary he’d have gotten the bullet a long time ago.
