Linda, I’m assuming you have a British passport. Here’s what the Home Office say about passport validity.

‘Some overseas countries have an immigration requirement for a passport to remain valid for a minimum period after entry to that country.
Holding a British passport does not exempt the holder from complying with these requirements. If your passport is in its final year of validity, you are advised to check the requirements of your destination country before you make your final travel plans. Any questions should be addressed to their consulate or embassy.’

With only two months left on your passport I’d call the Spanish Consulate (above on 0207 589 8989 ) and ask.

I would say that shouldn’t be a problem as its another EU country, although as a rule they say have at least six months on your passport when travlling abroad.

Dear Sirs,

I was enquiring into the fact that my wife is a Spanish passport holder, residing in the UK. However she wishes to renew her existing passport. Can she still use her married name or is she obliged to carry on using her maiden name.

Kind regards,

J. Thakral

I lodge my work visa application to Spanish Consulate last March 05, 2008. My concern is I am leaving UK for good this coming April 5, 2008. How can I follow-up my application with Spanish consulate? How long it will take to process the work visa as the consulate told me that they will contact me in two weeks time? It is already on the third week now and I am afraid it will not release on time of my departure.

Thanks,

Ravenal

Hello, I have a Canadian passport which expires in June 2008, and I am travelling to mainland Spain on May 6th, will it be accepted? All info on Spanish Embassy recorded message gives only UK passport info in which case, as long as the passport is in date, then there is no problem. I live in the UK.
