Here are a few ideas for things to do in London this week.

The Cycle Show 2006 is taking place 6-8 October at ExCel London, Royal Victoria Dock, right next to City Airport. There are over 140 exhibitors and if you’re into riding bikes they’ll be something here for you, bikes, clothing, a test track for trying new mountain bikes, the show is being opened on Saturday 7th by the greatest road racer ever Eddy Merckx and Eddy also has a stand there.

Opening times are 10-6, 6-7th Oct and 10-4, 8th Oct. Tickets are £10 advance, £12 on the door. Take the Docklands Light Railway to Prince Regent or Network South East to Custom House.

RunLondon This Sunday October 8th, Nike is staging its sixth RunLondon event in Hyde Park. 35,000 runners divided into two teams, North and South, racing over 10km with staggered starts. Each runner has a digital chip to record their time and the team with the lowest overall average wins.

It starts at 10am, the starting point being the south side of Hyde Park, near the Prince of Wales Gate. Get down there if you enjoy watching other people sweat and suffer.

Autumn Ideal Home Show If you’re more into your home comforts the Autumn Ideal Home Show opens on Friday at Earl’s Court and runs from the 6-15 October. Think the old house needs a makeover, this could be the place to get some ideas and inspiration.

Tickets are £12 weekends, £10 weekdays and its open 12-6 this Friday then 10-7 weekdays, 10-8 weekends. Nearest tube is Earl’s Court on the Piccadilly and District lines.

London Games Festival 2006 This is an event for computer gamers running at a number of locations in London from the 2-7 October. The full listing of what’s going on is on the festival website, no ticket prices are given so maybe its free.

Formula One-The Great Design Race An exhibition that’s been running at The Design Museum since July and ends on October 29th that looks at the design evolution of the F1 car and where all those millions get spent every year by the likes of Ferrari and McLaren.

The Design Museum is open daily from 10am-5.45pm, tickets cost £7. It’s on the south side of the River Thames, just over Tower Bridge.
